1. What are the planetaries and what their role is
The activation of the front wheels consists in the movement of the heads of the internal bar (3) and external (1), which move at equal corner speeds, connected by trees (2).
The head of the external planetarium offers only the possibility of the angular movements of the connected trees. The internal ones, on the other hand, in addition to the corner movements ensure the axial movement of the trees to return the front wheels, to the work of the suspension.
Training trees differ in length: the right one is longer and the one on the left is shorter.
Planetaries are some cardan axes equipped with two joints at the ends, also called the planetary head.
The planetaryist continues the transmission from the gearbox to the wheel. In cars with front -wheel drive the two -wheeled planetaries come directly from the gearbox. In the case of rear -wheel drive in the change, a cardan comes out who reaches a differential and two planetaries come out. One end of the planetarium is differential and the other in the fuse, where it is blocked by the teeth that has the fuse, so that it can be swept with the hub and the brake disc.

In cars with rear drive, planetaries never give up. In the case of front -wheel drive, however, due to repeated corners, an additional force is exercised on the planetary joint and with the time that give up.

If the planetarium is used due to the overload it will start beating even at low speed. This rhythm can come from the internal head of the planetarium. However, another source of beating can be a differential step.

Probably the most common defect of a planetarium, which leads to the breakdown of the entire mechanism, is due to the rubber or thermoplastic bell.

The rubber ones are much cheaper than the thermoplastic ones, but they also have the great disadvantage that are much easier to destroy. Some owners have suspicions in those who are thermoplastic, mainly because of the fact that they are more rigid, but their conception is wrong because they are much more resistant and tolerate the much better mechanical dynamics.
The bellows of the planetarium interrupts the physical impact, frost and natural abrasion.
A broken bellows does not appear from the beginning as a malfunction. If the lubricant is of good quality, it will grate the parts of rubbing for a long time. Therefore, at least a month, no noise will be listened to, but the abrasive particles enter that accelerate the wear of the components protected by the bellows.
When the lubricant has disappeared, the overheating of the rubbing mechanisms begins, after which the support of the joint is rotated and the car with a front -wheel drive remains, in fact, with a single wheel.
3. Because the planetary break is
The planetarium is damaged both for reasons of natural wear of the component elements in the permanent movement, and in the fault of the drivers.
The dirt and sediments on the road penetrate the joints, acting as abrasive. After a few hundred kilometers, with a broken bellows, the planetarium is worn and starts grinding.
The second cause is an inadequate leadership. During the driving of the car you should think that it is not designed for extreme tasks: to start suddenly with the systemic transmission.
The fans of tuning, which accelerate the car engine exaggeratedly and unjustly, forgetting (or ignoring) that standard transmissions and homogeneous (planetary) joints are not designed to transmit too much couples, not only remain the integrity of the system, but even endanger their life.
4. How to verify the planetarium
To check the planetarium we present the following algorithm:
- Place the wheels of the right car;
- Support one of the front wheels on a stable jack;
- Act from the manual brake and, if you have automatic transmission, enter the neutral mode;
- Start the engine, tighten the clutch, coupled the first gear and then slowly release the clutch (consequently, the suspended wheel will start rotating);
- Gently press the brake pedal by applying a natural task of the planetarium. If there is a defecate, you will hear from the left or right. If the internal joints are in order, the car will simply block.
- Turn the steering wheel towards the end on the left. Press the brake pedal slowly. If the internal articulation (the planetary head) is defective, it will continue to beat. If the left one is defective, the sound will be added from it.
- Turn the steering wheel until the end to the right. Do similar procedures. If you feel a beat when the steering wheel is rotated to the right, it means that the right external planet is defective.
Do not forget to pass the neutral, stop the engine and wait for the wheel to completely stop going to the ground.
5. As planetaries prevent
In order to avoid problems on the road and unnecessary expenses, car owners should inspect the car joints for more often integrity. When problems and symptoms appear, or when the bellows have reduced, to the slightest suspicion that the planetaries must be washed thermally and the bellows have replaced by new ones, while renewing the lubricant.
