When you guide «Sportsman», creating difficult maneuvers or change the speeds with the clutch, but «Miss» the moment and feel a grit or start at high speed that you have a powerful engine, sooner or later you must expect to have problems with the flywheel.

The car flywheel (steering wheel) is a 30-40 cm heavy metal disc with characteristic teeth, with a cavity in the middle, which connects the engine to the transmission. At one end there is the motor elbows and in the other the clutch consisting of plate, disc and pressure pad. When the driver passes the clutch pedal, the disc raises from the steering wheel and the gearbox no longer takes the movement of the engine rotation. When it releases the pedal, the clutch is coupled, the disc is flanked by the flywheel, which turns in unison and, due to the partzia given by its heavy weight, the Vilbrochen turns. The steering wheel also plays a role in the start of the engine, used by the electromotor. Most of the vehicles have the flywheel with a simple table, i.e. a single steel disc, but to relieve vibrations and maintain the rotation of the greatest diesel power engines, which also have a large torque at the ranks, the steering wheel with the double table appeared, without which the engines would ruin the drop of drops.

The most common defects met on the flywheel are:

• Ring equipment is used. The absence of several teeth is felt by blows, throat and sliding when the engine starts.
• Beat – low speed vibrations, caused by natural wear and the component must be replaced
• The adjacent surfaces were worn due to the exploitation of the incorrect clutch
• The defects appeared on the adjacent surface of the disc under the elbow tree, caused by wear due to the long operational time.

Symptoms that flash the double mass defect

The double table flywheel is a flywheel with two mobile housings, traditionally made of steel and fixed on the same axis. The special amortization elements and the field are installed in a single accommodation.

The double table steering wheel became popular in diesel engines in the 90s, although it was invented long before and was subsequently used for petrol engines.

The aim of introducing the «double mass» in the propulsion system was to protect it from the growing couples made by the latest generation engines.

The defect of the flywheel with the double mass is one of the most expensive defects.

Damage of symptoms flying with double mass

• In the ranks there are abnormal noises emitted by the gearbox and excessive vibrations, metal sound in the clutch area
• Problems when you start Lina and change your speed
• Vibrations grow at low speeds that feel on their body

Symptoms that flash the defective automatic box

The symptoms are confused with the clutch defect:

• Scratto when the engine goes or grind the noise
• The engine hat -trick (to the operation without cylinder) decreases as soon as the speed increases
• Vibrations and tremors heard inside the car
• Loss of lubricants
• Destruction of the sources

The main causes are: cracks, scratches on the surface of the flywheel, the large mileage of modern engines that are assembled by light alloys, with low resistance to suppress vibrations.

How to check a flywheel?

During operation, the car is coupled at high speed.

The engine speed is reduced to 1300-1500 rpm, the speed decreases.

The acceleration pedal is pressed in the floor.

If no noises are heard after these maneuvers, it means that everything is fine.

What happens if you go with a broken flywheel?

The lesser defect of the flywheel does not deactivate the car. It continues to work although this is frustrating, through the noise produced when the appetizer is started, unusual vibrations and disk skating. By continuing to drive with a defective flywheel, the problems will create problems or will lead to premature wear and limit the transmission of the power and the couple will be insufficient.

If the symptoms are ignored for a long time, the wheel with the double mass can be collapsed, suddenly preventing the transmission, despite the engine that continues to work, but the car will not move from the place. The defects do not appear in a correct operation of the vehicle, but only to a defective guide and the replacement price does not justify this type of behavior. It is preferable to replace yourself … the driving style.
